Project News

Users?26-Apr-2008

A lot has happened in the Jaiku world since the last release. The google buyout is a big one. The advent of browser plugin apps, the advent of all-in-one clients such as Digsby seems to make Jay-Q obsolete. The lack of new features on Jaiku doesn't help either.

I am thinking a mobile client (iPhone) would be cool, though I think it's already been done. In short, if there is anything you'd like to see, or even if you still read this and like the app, send me a note: support (at) jay-q.com.

Development Continutes23-Aug-2007

Wow, it's been 3 months since I made any changes. Does anyone still use this? Anyway, I'm back to doing some more work. I fixed a couple minor bugs. Not sure what's next, but I promise there will be enhancements.

The international text problem, for the last time18-May-2007

International text should be displaying correctly for all users now, if the font you are using supports Unicode. The default font for Jaiku does support Unicode. This is only supported in the 0.9.1 release, currently only available in beta.

The international text problem, again16-May-2007

The fix that was put in for 0.8 isn't working at the moment due to a problem with the encoding of the feed from the Jaiku service. We are hoping to have this resolved shortly.

The international text problem14-May-2007

It was recently discovered that Jay-Q did not handles non ASCII text very well (Chinese, Japanese, etc). This has been fixed in the 0.8 release. Sorry for any users who experienced this issue. If you find any more bugs, feel free to email me at bugs (at) jay-q.com.

Jay-Q Goes International04-May-2007

Jay-Q was recently released with a Portuguese language pack, that was about 1/2 done. My Portuguese sucks, which explains this, but that's not the point. In the future, I'd like to release support for several other languages, or correct the ones I have. If you are interested in translating, email me at support <at> jay-q.com,

Installer Bug03-May-2007

It was recently discovered that the installer was not properly removing previous versions on install. This issue has been corrected with the 0.5.4 release. Unfortunately, any 0.5.3 and older release will not be automatically removed. Please go into your Add/Remove programs to remove these previous releases.

Download Size02-May-2007

The 0.5.0 release of Jay-Q grew in size from 500kb to 3.5Mb. This increase in size is due to the inclusion of dictionaries for the spell checker. This download should still be reasonable for those with broadband. For those with slower connections, a future release will have the option of not downloading the dictionaries. This option will also be useful for those upgrading.
